Seeds of SpiritualityTM: A Visual Approach to Prayer was developed three years ago as a collaboration between Cantor Gabrielle Clissold, MRT Ritual Committee Chair Doreen Laperdon-Addison, and former MRT President Semmes Brightman.
Seeds of SpiritualityTM is MRT's interpretation of a visual prayer service. It is the marriage of Shabbat prayer in Hebrew and English, imposed on a projected background of thought-provoking art, photography, and archaeology.
The liturgy has been crafted and enhanced collaboratively by Rabbi Marc Kline and Cantor Clissold. Imagery, design, and layout has been created by Semmes Brightman with technology overseen by Jim Halpern. The service's liturgy and art are truly eclectic, taken from a variety of sources.
Cantor Clissold further explains that "Seeds allows the worshipper to experience beautiful visual imagery directly connected to Shabbat prayers enhanced by evocative musical settings of our prayer text. This service enables meditation and reaching inwards for reflection and self-scrutiny, something I believe is needed more and more."
