David Siegal, Trustee at Large
I am thrilled and honored to be a member of the Monmouth Reform Temple family and one of your MRT Board members. I aim to bring my passion, energy, and work experience as a senior executive at the Federal and state levels of government to help continue the vibrant life that is and always has been MRT. I also want to bring my experiences on non-profit boards in the DC area to sustain MRT as a beacon to the local area.
With my treasured wife Willa, we are eager and excited to provide our spirit to MRT; to actively engage in meaningful social justice work. to study with the clergy and the congregation; and more so, to have vital interactions with my fellow congregants.
My lived Jewish values are both family-based and from my more formal life-long Jewish learning. From my family, I learned to be open, to be curious, to be actively engaged in life. I grew up in the New Jersey Bayshore community of Keyport. At the time it had one of the oldest Jewish congregations in Monmouth County having been formed in about 1880. Sadly, it is no longer in existence but its impact on me is lifelong. I proudly put my Jewish spiritual and cultural values into a long public service career in Washington, DC, and several states with a focus on assisting vulnerable children and families.
Working at the family business, Keyport Cleaners, from an early age, taught me valuable lessons about treating and respecting others. My understanding of the value of DEI comes from my parents as well as various long-ago summer jobs and even previous military service.
My Jewish values have been and are the building block for my public service as were my doings within the sizeable professional theater community in the DC/ Northern Virginia/Suburban Maryland area.
Here at MRT, beyond my Board responsibilities, I am an active member of the vital Social Action committee. I am currently the MRT liaison to RAC-NJ (Religious Action Committee). What more can I say, I thoroughly enjoy the accessible, wide-ranging Tuesday morning discussion group led by our Rabbi, and the Saturday morning lay-led Torah discussions with other MRT members.
Looking forward to being of service to MRT and the greater community and coming to know you.
